While working on an illustration for illustrationswap2016 , a holiday card swap among a group of artists who are part of a Facebook group I was invited to join, the first attempt seemed weak and then, when the second one had resolved a couple of issues and the image strengthened I was reminded of the whole point of sketching or roughing out an idea first. What frustrates me is how easily I disregard basic processes, thereby cheating myself. I tell myself I just suck when all that is really happening is that I'm not putting the time in. I always get there when I choose to journey there.
